How to Quit Smoking Cigarette
Today, it’s not uncommon for those who picked up the tasty habit of smoking, wanting to quit. You may be one of them. If you want to get rid of smoking, and actually quit, you can certainly make that happen.
Now of course, no one says this is going to be easy, but it definitely will be worth your while to do these things that will alleviate the cigarette-craving tension and help you kick the habit for good.
- Take a Vacation and Leave Cigarettes Behind
If you are serious about not smoking, then take a vacation that requires you to fly. You cannot smoke in airports, on airplanes, and in many hotels today.
Book travel and a nice resort where there is no smoking and let yourself detox for at least a week’s time. If you do this, you’ll have a leg up on the process of quitting, as you will have more than 3 days under your belt by the time you go home. Yes, those cravings can reemerge at home, but you will have beaten the habit for at least 5 to 7 days, which is a huge thing.
- Visit Support Groups
People that want to quit smoking have similar options to Alcoholics Anonymous meetings.
Find them in your community and join them. If nothing else, you will meet others also fighting to quit and can help you quit too. You can meet people for moral support and obtain resources that will help you get the upper hand in your quest to throw away the cigarettes forever.
- Exercise Instead
When cravings hit, do yourself a favor and do push-ups. That’s right, this is a way to help you beat cravings. Not only that, it’s going to cause your blood pressure to move and your circulation to progress to a point where you will no longer want a cigarette. By diverting what your body wants, you will overcome the issue faster.
Do push-ups until you can’t do anymore, and your cravings will start to dissipate, and in turn, you’ll be burning calories.
- Go Places Where You Cannot Smoke
Your best bet is to stay away from places where smoking is permissible, thus, go where it is not. Attend indoor activities, museums, galleries, restaurants, cafe, and anywhere where the “NO SMOKING” sign is prominent displayed for all patrons. You don’t need to spend money while doing this, just sit there, and allow yourself to progress in your journey to quit smoking.
When you put yourself in areas that do not allow you to light it up, you will find that you can champion this with relative ease. Just do it.
- Chew Nicotine Gum
Finally, if you find your body is having a hard time with the shift, then focus on gum. Nicotine gum comes in a variety of strengths and will help you with cravings.
Go with a strong dose at first, then slowly lower yourself down to less and less as you fight the urge to smoke. You have to literally chew this, and keep yourself away from old habits for it to work.
